Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! Our first tour of 2011 was a huge success and an amazing learning experience for all. The new 7-day format turned out great! With the new 7-day program we begin on a Sunday and hold Ayahuasca ceremonies the first three nights, take one night off, and hold two more in a row before going home on Saturday. Guests greatly enjoyed being able to arrive at camp and have their first ceremony that evening. Also, this new format removes the need to take more than one week off from work for our guests. On that note, we would like to encourage everyone to book their flights so that they arrive the day before their tour begins. There are three reasons for this:

• The first few days of this new program can be intense. The first day includes group meetings plant walks, and going right into ceremony that first night. Arriving in Iquitos the day before tour will give you sufficient time to rest before the first ceremony on Sunday.

• Flight delays into Lima and Iquitos have been on the rise and several guests have missed some of their first day of tour due to their flights being delayed.

• In order to better facilitate our new schedule, we will now be having guests arrive at the Blue Morpho office at 8:30 a.m. and we will be leaving for camp at 9:30 a.m. This earlier departure time gives us time for a more casual first day at camp as there are many activities scheduled (Including the first ceremony).

Please do your best to schedule your flights to arrive the day before so as to make your time spent with us as pleasant as possible.

Extra 12-Day Added by Popular Demand
Our first 12-day intensive sold out in less than two weeks, so due to popular demand and interest, we've added another 12-day intensive workshop. Our second 12-day intensive begins August. 21 and ends Sept. 1. We begin the intensive on Sunday holding ceremonies the first five nights, with one night off for rest, and another five ceremonies in a row before heading home on Thursday. We call this the intensive for a reason. It will be intense! Five days in a row is a LOT of Ayahuasca. For both our new guests and return guests, remember, you are not obligated to drink every night. If you need one, or two, or more nights off, you are welcome to rest. If you're interested book now, we only have 8 spaces left!

 

Traditional Shamanism Workshop Changes
The March Traditional Shamanism Workshop with Toe' is almost sold out. Because of the immense interest in these types of tours, we're going to upgrade two of the Traditional Shamanism Workshops with Maestro Alberto:

1. April 24 – 7-Day Tree Medicine Workshop. During this Traditional Ayahuasca Shamanism Workshop we will specialize on the relationships between the individual trees. Each day we will focus on an individual tree learning of their medicinal properties, their spirits, and how they are used for healing. Also, we'll integrate different aspects of Shamanic Medicine Wheels using crystals to connect the energy of the medicine wheel to the trees that we are focusing on.

2. May 29 – 7-Day Traditional Shamanism Workshop with Toe' and Chakra Crystals diet. Toe has been used as a traditional admixture to Ayahuasca for centuries. It is a very strong medicine from the Datura family (Brugmansia Suaveolens), also called Angel Trumpet due to the ornamental shape of its elegant flowers. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to better understand a Toe' brew's dissociative states and the long lasting, vividly visionary ceremonies that it produces. Toe' is a very powerful traditional healing medicine.

As a reminder, our Traditional Shamanic Workshops with Maestro Alberto will have a maximum 16 guests per tour, so we expect them to fill up fast.

 

Upgrades at Camp
Those of you who have been to camp in the last year have likely noticed some major improvements in camp facilities. We've completely overhauled the bathroom areas with new larger sinks and new showers with non-slip tiles. We've replaced all exterior insect-proof netting and created a “bug barrier” in each of the entrances to the Main House for bug-free nights during dinners and after ceremonies. Also, we have new cushions on the rocking chairs for extra comfort and anti-rock chocks for those of you who like to sit still during ceremony. We've replaced all of the old mats in the Ceremonial House with new, thicker and more comfortable mattresses for those who enjoy staying after ceremonies. We've upgraded the menu with more variety, new electronic safes in each room for added security, and we've implemented many other new work practices to make your stay more enjoyable.

 

Welcome Aboard Christian
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest addition to the Blue Morpho team; Christian Gearhart. Christian, an ex-Navy public relations expert, will be helping as hospitality administrator at camp as well as managing the mentor program and helping with many of the exciting projects we're developing for 2011. Christian has been coming to Blue Morpho to work in the medicine since his first tour in Jan. 2007. He has an intense respect for the medicine and medicine practice and pledges to serve Blue Morpho, its guests, and community to the best of his abilities. Welcome!

 

Johnny's New Arrival
Johnny Serván, our Camp Manager, became the proud father of a beautiful baby girl, Sharpei Shantal January 18. We send all our love and best wishes to him and his family. Congratulations!

Mentor Program Revamp
The Mentor Program is being revised to better suit the needs of both guests and mentors. In the coming months, mentors will be more involved in camp operations and on our website forums. Mentors will receive their new guidelines and duties this month.
Mentors are our guests who have been coming to Blue Morpho on a regular basis, have found the medicine beneficial to their lives and are looking for a way to give back to our guests and the medicine space itself.

 

NEW Online Booking System
We've said it before, but the online booking system is here. This new system makes booking tours and hotels secure and easy with less hassles and emails. You will now be able to manage all your booking details on one convenient place on our website. As soon as you reserve a place on the 2011 calendar you will be directed to use our friendly online system.

You can access the booking area by heading to “Dates and Prices” under the “Workshops” tab. Then just click the “Make a Reservation” link to the right of the tour you're signing up for. Now just click “Register” and follow the registration process. Once you're done registering and filling out the medical questionnaire, you'll be sent a confirmation email and link to your registered email address. Click on the link in your email and once your medical questionnaire has been approved, you can log back onto online booking, reserve your tour, hotel and make a payment all in one place.

Please be patient, this new system is in Beta stages. New Projects Update:
We've got loads of exciting new projects coming down the pipeline and here are just a few updates:

Modern Shamanism
www.modernshamanism.org is designed to teach a form of Shamanism that is based in experiences found in the context of modern societies. Imagine experiencing your daily life from the same states of clear transformative consciousness found while at camp; being “in it” at work, at home, or at play. This form of modern shamanism is being developed from the ground up and created specifically for people living in the contemporary world. While it will serve as a stand-alone practice, it will be especially powerful for people with Ayahuasca ceremonial experience.

Children's Book and Flower Essences 
The “My Little Universe” production is a children’s book series with supporting products that blend spiritual teachings and understanding through modern themes. Our goal is to facilitate supportive, affirming and open communication between parents and children and bridge the gap between parents’ and children's perceptions. Our first book, “Sweet Dreams on the Amazon,” will include an associated aromatherapy spray which will aid children in having a peaceful sleep. These and other associated products in this range will be launched at the June trade shows and should be in the retail market later in the year.

Christmas Charity Work
As a “thank you” for allowing us to operate Blue Morpho in their area we held a Christmas Hot Chocolate Drive for our local village neighbors celebrating their special local tradition of enjoying hot chocolate on Christmas Day. Blue Morpho bought the supplies and our staff pitched in and prepared and served piping hot chocolate for all of the local children and their families. We also purchased Christmas presents for every child in the village. In addition, we distributed all of the clothes and other items donated by our guests throughout the year to all of the villagers. Thank you all for your donations and support!

Blue Morpho

I would like to offer you all a warm greeting from Blue Morpho. This newsletter is designed to reflect themes of interest of the reader, so I am asking for feedback on any topics that you would like to see addressed in the following months. Amazonian Shamanism is an ample topic with many facets that we can develop through this medium to open our understanding of this ancient system of spiritualism.

First of all I want to thank all of our guests that came to our new camp this year 2006. Thank You from our entire staff and shamanism team!

2006 was an amazing year. We moved locations as mentioned in our last news letter, then began a bold project to expand infrastructure to meet the needs of our guests and the increased group sizes. We are now finished with the first phase of building and moving into the second phase. The fist phase concluded in October in the main camp area with the completion of the main house, ceremonial house, maestro house, apprentice house, friends and family bungalow and four guest bungalows. We now offer individual accommodations in four separate bungalows. Each bungalow houses six guests. We paved the end of the road and built a garage. We added brick paths between all buildings as well as landscaping. The gardens are absolutely beautiful bringing splashes of color in every direction.

Dear Friends,

 

We’ve just finished our first 6 day 5 ceremony tour; it was a huge success with guests not only having major transformational experiences but also enjoying the intensive workshop format of 5 Ayahuasca ceremonies in a row.

As many of you may know Hamilton had a motocross accident the day before our April 12^th tour started. He had a dislocated femur, fractured hip and tore all the femoral ligaments, but in true Hamilton style he only spent one night in Iquitos hospital to have his leg put back in place, and then came to camp to attend the tours opening ceremony. With his black office chair swapped for mats to form a make shift hospital bed, bags of rice supporting his leg, and a chakapa in hand he managed an amazing ceremony. Next day, under doctors’ advice, he left camp, and flew to Lima to have an operation to pin and fix his bones and ligaments back into place. He then flew back to Iquitos ready to manage the April 26^th tour, even though it meant that he was sometimes whistling and singing icaros while walking around the ceremonial room on crutches. New features and additional content on the Blue Morpho Web site

The Blue Morpho website is evolving quickly, we are adding new content on a consistent basis so visit the website as often as you can and see what is happening. As an overview of the latest content that we have added: another 6 videos of Hamilton’s and Don Alberto’s talks, a section showing pictures of interest, 2011 calendar, new ambassador program and loyalty program.

In the community section we added a new member map page which shows the Blue Morpho community members that live in your area, this is a great way to meet or chat with people who have been to Blue Morpho but on different tours to you.

 

Blue Morpho’s new office

The new Blue Morpho office ( #515 Avenida Guardia Civil, Pampachica.) is now fully operational and has been the launching place for the last two tours. The office is a spacious, comfortable, modern oasis in a peaceful part of Iquitos. (For detailed directions please see the page on the website marked ‘Where is Blue Morpho’. You will also be given a map and directions by the Blue Morpho representative that meets you at the airport). We did mention in the last newsletter that the phone number would be the same, however a few days after we moved in, the Iquitos phone company told us it had to be changed. So the new number for Blue Morpho is +51 65 26 3454

Chris’s private 8-ceremony dietas

Chris’s second small group dieta started on the 4^th of May. These tours are 9 days long, and Ayahuasca is drunk each of the 8 nights, crystals are dieted each morning and medicinal plant barks dieted each afternoon. Chris has designed the crystal dieting so that each day different crystals are dieted. The dieting starts with crystals that relate to the root (1^st )chakra and then each day participants diet crystals relating to the next chakra up, and so on till the crown (7^th) chakra. His next small group dieta is in August.

 

August Sanango diet

Sanango is the ultimate plant medicine experience. The March Sanango tour was a huge success with many guests sending us their comments as the 30 day post diet restrictions came to an end. The August tour is almost full; we only have 4 places left, so if you are interested please contact admin and reserve your spot.

 

4 day workshops

Our first 4 day tours start in June. These tours are a terrific way for guests to experience Blue Morpho from just $1000. Next year all these tours coincide with public holidays to minimize your time off work. These tours are designed in a back to back format so guests can join them into an 8 day, 7 nights, 6 ceremony tour.

 

2011 calendar

The 2011 calendar has been posted on the web-site ready for you to work out when you come next year.

The 6 day tours have been taken off for next year and replaced with the equivalent of a back to back, so its 12 days long with 10 ceremonies with one night off in the middle. It should be a fantastic event, lots of medicine in less than two weeks. After talking to many guests we realize that time away from home and work is a major problem so our traditional 9 day tours have been replaced with a 7 day format but still incorporating 5 ceremonies. These will start on a Sunday and finish on a Saturday, so now most guests can fly in and out with only a week off work. (See the website for full details)

 

 

New pricing structure along with a brand new Loyalty program and Ambassador Program

As a way of thanking all of our loyal guests that been to Blue Morpho many times over the years, and those that have introduced many of their friends and relatives to Blue Morpho, we have developed two new systems that allow you to benefit by receiving greater discounts, when you introduce new people to Blue Morpho or if you frequently return as a guest to Blue Morpho. Professional development and CEUs program

Two new sections will be on the website soon, these pages are designed to help those guests that may be able to claim their tours as either tax deductions as professional development or as a way to collect CEUs towards continual professional accreditation. More news on this subject next newsletter.

 

 

Icaros available for download

Many people over the years have been asking for CDs of icaros, or if they are allowed to tape during ceremonies. To help with this we are recording all your favorite icaros and placing them on a new section of the website. From there you can download them all for free. This process will take some time so please be patient as we record and upload them over the next month or two.

 

Guests’ questions section in monthly newsletters

These newsletters will be sent out each month, usually a few days after a tour finishes, and we would like to have your input. For this reason, a section will be dedicated to answering questions about Traditional Shamanism, Universal Shamanism, Universal philosophy, or even questions about how the medicine is changing and shaping your life.

 

Naturally, we would also love to hear the good things about how your life has transformed, so please send us any stories or testimonials that you are happy to share.
