Newsletter 4
Much time has passed since our last newsletter, and in that time many positive changes have taken place with Blue Morpho. First we would like to announce that we have moved location from the Aucayacu River to 180 acres of land off the Iquitos Nauta road on Km 53. The new location has become our permanent home offering easier access from Iquitos. The new camp can now be reached by auto in an hour from Iquitos and just 45 minutes from the airport. We began construction in May of 2005 and opened in November. Since November we have continued building and now have a Main House, Ceremonial House, three bungalows, and ayahuasca cookhouse. We continue to build bungalows to be able to offer private accommodation to for our guests. We are currently building two bungalows with three to follow. By the end of 2006 we wish to have the new camp fully constructed allowing for private accommodation for groups of 35 guests. The old camp was gifted to Rosa, Pedro, and family.
Blue Morpho has continued to grow. We now have three full-time apprentices that accompany each tour and six part-time apprentices. All are showing great courage and progressing rapidly. Group sizes have also grown. We are now hosting groups with a maximum capacity of 23 guests and 6 apprentices. As we have grown our dedication to the guest has continued as our focus and even with the larger groups the quality of the ceremonies and personal service has improved.
In March of 2006 the magazine Nation Geographic Adventure published an article written by Kira Salak titled “Hell and Back.” I want to offer our sincerest thanks to her for writing the article. We have received incredible response from readers. This article brought information about our work into the homes of millions across the United States.
Since the article other writers have come on groups and are in the process of writing and organizing article for different publications. In addition to the articles, an independent film company has contacted us about filming a feature documentary at Blue Morpho to demonstrate the spiritually transformational properties of Ayahuasca. We are scheduled to film in September. Alberto Torres Davila and his master shaman Julio Gerena Pinedo will be featured.
We are extremely happy with our continued growth. For the remainder of 2006 we will be focusing on Ayahuasca workshops and apprenticeships. We now offer two 9 day workshops per month. A list of the group workshop dates is available on the Prices and Reservations page on our website www.bluemorphotours.com. This is an exciting time since it was one of the dreams for Blue Morpho to form into a substantial center for shamanic study and learning. Our dream is coming true with the interest of our guests and our dedication to the purity of the shamanism.
We now look to the future for our continued success. We give thanks for all the wonderful change that has come and welcome the change that the future will bring. We come together to aid others from our own connection to Spirit and open the space for others to grow in theirs. Together we experience the transformation from the invisibility of spirit to its pure manifestation. Lets continue, together, to breathe life into these ancient studies and maintain the shamanism cultures still living in the hearts of the locals and us.
