Preparation for an Ayahuasca ceremony

Here are a few points to remember for during the days when participating in Ayahuasca ceremonies.

Fasting

It is important that you eat no food after lunch. It is also advisable to not drink caffeinated drinks, chamomile tea (Manzanilla) or milk after lunch. Drinking water is allowed up till half an hour before the ceremony starts. The water provided in the ceremony is only for rinsing out your mouth. You can drink water after the ceremony, however you should only drink if you are not feeling nauseated. No food should be eaten until day break of the next morning.Hammock at Blue Morpho Ayahuasca center

Relaxing

An Ayahuasca ceremony can be an arduous event, mentally, and in many cases physically. Your brain is very active during a ceremony firing the neural synapses at a much faster rate then normal, and this can continue for a few hours after the ceremony finishes possibly disturbing sleep patterns. So we always recommend that you get plenty of rest during our tours.

Do what you normally do to stay relaxed (reading, meditation, yoga etc). Allow yourself plenty of time during the tour for the medicine to work with you.

Blue Morpho ceremony rules

If you are trained in any form of martial arts or physically violent sports please inform Hamilton or Malcolm before the ceremony starts, this is so we understand how your body may automatically react once the mareaceon has started.

Healers and energy workers are not allowed to perform any healing work on other guests during ceremonies with out previous permission from Hamilton and the guest. (Maestros go through many years of rigorous training in order to be clean enough to perform healing without imprinting any of their self on the healee.)

If you decide to not participate in one of the ceremonies and are planning to stay in your bungalow please notify Johnny for security purposes and keep in mind you may have to turn off the kerosene lamp in your bungalow so the light doesn’t interfere with the ceremony.

Please do not touch the crystals or any other objects on the mesa in or out of ceremony times.

Please do not sit in the ceremonial chairs (black office chairs)

No recording or filming is permitted during ceremonies. (Only Hamilton’s and Don Alberto’s talks can be recorded, however please ask their permission at the beginning of the talk.

Before taking photographs that have people in the frame please ask their permission.

If at any stage you lose physical control of yourself during the ceremony to the degree where you may harm yourself or interfere with other guests the maestros and assistants will restrain you in a sheet and pour cool water onto the top of your head until the effects of the medicine have subsided. (This is for your own safety as well as those around you)
